I don't have the skills to convert my own guns.Would anyone on this forum consider making a spring power k 98 for me. I will be starting a heer loadout when i have the last few items for my PBI kit,and would like to portray an ordinary rifleman.

PM'd!

If you bothered to take 5 minutes to read this thread and its' title, you'd see it's all about K98 SPRINGERS (also to stop spamming the wanted section with the same things). You've got about 6 posts to your name so far, each of them asking more or less the same question!

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Well, on the Dboys version, I think the bolt handle is "attached" to the "cylinder". Can anyone tell me it's not?
I would like to know if I can order it to do the same thing as Boshman with his Marushin bolt handle.

Yes it is as it was on my Marushin. I had to saw off the rear part of the marushin gas bolt with the bolt handle on it and drill out the centre so it slid onto the BAR10 cylinder. If you study my pictures that should make sense.

No I dont have a Dboyi but it is a copy of the early Marushin springer design which is why it will be very similar.

To help you and anyone else who is doing or planning on doing a springer conversion, here are some more detailed pics of the construction of my Marushin conversion.

These all look great guys!!!

I am so tempted by them I am going to make one myself :P. I was originally going to base it on the BAR-10 but a friend of mine (101stairborne-506) told me of the HFC VSR-11 which is apparantly fully VSR compatible. There is also a gas version although I suspect that wont be quite so compatible

So I want to base it off a BAR-10/VSR-11 and I already have a DBoys Kar98k with real wood stock, what I am wondering about is the logistics of installing a BAR-10 into the DBoys as a lot of wood must already have been removed no?

Cheers for any help :good:

Andy

PS I have a spare inner barrel, upper and lower reciever, trigger mech, butt pads and mag catch from a Warrior L96 if anybody needs some of these things? (I will not be using these in the conversion, would rather keep it 100% VSR compatible :D )

HFC USR-11 is just a taiwanese copy of the Marui VSR-10 as opposed to the JG BAR-10 which is a chinese copy. It comes in either spring or gas versions. It is 100% VSR compatible as is the JG BAR-10 so it could be used, but the JG BR-10 is cheaper and just as good so I'd see no reason to use the HFC unless you already had one. AS for using the GAS version, well if you want a gas K98 then just buy the Tanaka!

Wood Dboyi will be a suitable base, you WILL have to remove a fair bit of the wood so some basic woodworking skills and a good set of chisels is advisable :good:

Also, Boshman, I am assuming that the small bit of metal behind the bolt was part of the Marushin and was needed to make that section longer on the BAR-10?

Cheers for the help guys

Andy

Yes mate, because I placed the reciever with the bolt handle as the index point, the tail of the receiver is too short so the rear-most bit is cut from the marushin receiver and shaped so that it locks the rear of the VSR receiver in place. I personally find it is easier whereever possible to re-shape the receiver to fit the stock rather than cutting the stock to accept the shape of the VSR receiver. It also looks more authentic. If you do reshape the rear of there receiver, make sure you leave enough metal behind the bolt handle so that it keeps the bolt handle locked in when the bolt is closed otherwise it aint gonna work to well. Good luck with it. :good:

That's perfect Boshman. Could you answer to heroes_junkie about the bolt handle thing?

I'm actually looking for a trade with a guy for a VSR Realshock with a PDI Cylinder Kit. The problem is that Redwolf Airsoft added a 7mm inner diameter spring, and the kit need a 9mm spring...
So I need to buy a spring, and sears. (The latter is one of my problems : those from the original VSR are right for 420fps ? Or I'll break the sears in 10 shots?)

I need to buy my Kar so, spring, and sears. I don't want to buy from differents stores...
If anyone could help me for that... :D

The dboys Kar98 gas version is really genius.
It works like my stock vsr10, and I can aim just with the kar sights when I need a scope for vsr..

The only bad thing is shells :D but if you are good, you can go with that shell ejector system. I played all the day with it, my tanaka is no more funny compared to the dboys.

lots of succesful conversions going on here, seems like a real possibility of more rifles in games than the swathe of sub machine guns :good:

I built my springer, and although happy with my first attempt I was dissapointed that the mag 'block' and magazine extended so far below the bottom of the original K98 stock. As I also owned a wood stock dboy k98 i thought I would have another go.
However, I started then thinking about converting the dboy into a mag feed rifle and this is the project so far.
I started by cutting down the bar 10 barrel/hop/mag block assy to fit inside the forward part of the dboy reciever.

Then cutting the forward part of the reciever to allow the bar 10 parts to seat in far enough.

The rifle sight will cover the upper part that protrudes.

Underneath

Although I have altered the bar 10 parts if this turns out to be a complete flop I am stil able to re build the bar 10. I am also thinking that the dboy gas type bolt my give a decent power upgrade in the summer.
Next is to decide about the feed system from the Dboy K98 bolt to the bar 10 hop. I am experimenting with fitting a tube inside of a K98 shell. The extractor is removed from the bolt and a spring moves the shell/tube assy back out of the hop when the bolt is withdrawn. The shell is held in the reciever by a small pin so it does not fall out when the bolt is moved rearwards.
I'll let you know how I get on.

Well I perservered with the dboys hybrid, and although it fed from the bar 10 magazine the performance aboslutely sucked. The extended shell case worked but the whole arrangement leaked like a sieve despite my best efforts. I would imagine that someone with more machine tools and greater expertise could probably make it work but I decided to move on and try and improve my first conversion.

I saw Boshman's K98 'in the flesh' at GZ recently and most of the ideas for my K98 MkII came from him.

Cut the bolt release from the Dboy and drilled out the rear part and attached it to the bar 10 bolt.

I was a bit more sucessful with the mag release but still managed to cut through at the edge by using a chisel to vigorsously :slap:

Finally with the simmons 1.5-5 fitted

This being my 2nd attempt I would certainly recommend Boshman's tip in altering the Bar 10 as much as possible to fit the stock rather than the other way around.

Well on the MK1 conversion I upgraded the spring, spring guide, piston, hop rubber & sears. I did not really see any great difference from the 'tweaks' recommended by Boshman on standard spring and parts. The upgraded piston (laylax) did not perform very well at all, I imagine that it only works correctly in the laylax cylinder, perhaps that will be a further upgrade in the future.

At the moment the MKII has the standard piston and spring with a spacer added, upgraded spring guide and hop rubber. I cannot say (don't have a chrono) what the FPS is, but it shoots straight and pretty hard.

i`ve got the k98 and a bar 10 but i have no idea where to start. so if anyone could give me pointers with this that would be ace.
